Actos

Actos , also known as pioglitazone, is used to treat people with type 2 diabetes . It helps control blood sugar levels by making the body more receptive to insulin.

Actos is available in tablet form and should be taken exactly as prescribed once every day with or without meals. This medicine can be used either alone or together with other anti-diabetes medicines such as insulin, in combination with a healthy diet or fitness program.

The most common side effects that Actos users have reported include headache, sinusitis, respiratory infection and muscle pain. This medicine may also cause low blood sugar and swelling of the ankles and legs when taken with insulin.

In some cases, Actos may increase the chance of pregnancy in premenopausal women, because it may cause ovulation to resume. If you have heart disease or severe liver problems, Actos may not be right for you.

Actos may be prescribed for other conditions, as suggested by your doctor.

Because of the information that came out about Avandia, my doctor took me off of Actos. Actos was very helpful in controlling my Type 2 Diabetes. Was he being overly cautious or has Actos also proven to be dangerous?
