Avapro , known as irbesartan as well, is an angiotensin II inhibitor that is used to control high blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack and kidney disease. It works by releasing certain substances in the body that relaxes blood vessels, to help get blood pressure under control.
Avapro comes as an oral tablet which is taken once per day or as prescribed by your doctor. The recommended does for patients who are 13 years old or older is 150 milligrams daily. For children 6 to 12 years old, 75 milligrams is recommended by doctors.
This medicine may cause some unwanted effects including irregular heartbeat, confusion, itching, numbness in hands, feet or lips, difficult breathing, dark urine, stomach pain or hives.
Avapro may also be used to treat other conditions, as prescribed by your doctor.
