Bactrim , a combination of Sulfonamide and Trimethoprim, is an antibiotic used to treat and prevent infections, such as middle ear infections, bronchitis, urinary tract infections or travelers diarrhea in patients who are at least 3 months of age or older.
Bactrim is available as an oral suspension and in tablet form which should be taken with a full glass of water.
The most commonly reported side effects of this medicine are skin rash, itching, upset stomach, vomiting, nausea and poor appetite.
Bactrim can also be used to prevent and treat pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP). It wont work for flu, colds or other viral infections; however, it may be used to treat other conditions, as determined by your doctor.
