Cimetidine is a histamine blocker used to control and prevent ulcers, itching, hives and viral warts, as well as GastroEsophageal Reflux Disease ( GERD ), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and the symptoms of heartburn related to acid indigestion and sour stomach.
It comes as an oral tablet and an oral liquid taken either once per day at bedtime or two to four times daily with food. You should not take Cimetidine for more than two weeks without your doctors recommendation.
Common side effects of Cimetidine include headache, dizziness, diarrhea, drowsiness and breast enlargement.
Cimetidine may also used to treat other medical conditions, as suggested by your doctor.
