Depakote

Depakote , also chemically called as divalproex, is an anticonvulsant used to treat different types of seizures.

It works by combining the valproate sodium to form valproic acid in the body. It is also used to prevent migraine headaches, manic episodes, bipolar disorder and aggression.

Depakote comes as an oral capsule and an extended-release tablet that is usually taken at least two times a day, as described by your doctor.

The most common side effects from Depakote are cough, fever, throat dryness, body aches, hair loss, runny nose, swollen glands in neck, and difficulty swallowing.

Depakote is sometimes used in the treatment of other medical conditions, as determined by your doctor.

Would like to know if I can get help to deter the price. I have been taking this medicine since Dec.2004. My pharmacist suggested I contact you to see if I could possibly get help. I live on a fixed income and it is hard for me to pay for my prescriptions.

my 2 year old was prescribed an insane amount of depakote for prevention of seizures. The dosage proved to be toxic and now she is suffering from Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. Look it up! It's pure hell. I really wish that this country would stop making and distrubiting toxic drugs and expecting patients to trust in the heath care system, which needs total reformation.

I have been using this med for several years and my doctor does blood work every 3 months to monitor the valproic acid level in the liver. You may want to talk to your physician about this.

I came real close to entering the hospital because of a liver problem. There should be a warning of some kind other than that given by a doctor.
