Diflucan, also known as fluconazole, is an azole antifungal used to prevent and treat severe fungus infections that appear in various parts of the body including in the mouth, throat, esophagus, abdomen and vagina. It is also used to treat fungal meningitis or the infection after bone marrow transplant.
Diflucan works by decreasing the development of fungi, which cause the infection. This medicine comes as a tablet and a liquid suspension to be taken by mouth once a day.
Patients who take Diflucan may experience headache, heartburn, dizziness, stomach pain, diarrhea and change of appetite.
Diflucan may also be used to treat other medical conditions, as determined by your doctor.
