Diltiazem HCL is a calcium channel blocking agent that is used to treat angina pectoris (chest pain) and to control high blood pressure. It forces calcium to move through the blood vessels and the heart cells effectively, so the blood vessels relax and the blood and oxygen supply increases.
Diltiazem HCL comes as a tablet to take by mouth. Prescription doses vary between patients and are determined based on the patient and their symptoms.
The most common side effects of Diltiazem HCL include headache, drowsiness, constipation, increased appetite, weight gain and facial flushing.
Diltiazem HCL may also be used in the treatment for other use, as prescribed by your doctor.
