Doxepin HCL is a tricyclic antidepressant used to treat mental depression.
It comes as an oral capsule and an oral solution, usually taken in small doses two to four times per day as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor usually increases the dose little by little as needed until the proper dosage is determined. Doxepin HCL may be taken with food, milk or juice to reduce stomach upset.
Common side effects of this medicine include headache, dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, tiredness, dry mouth, diarrhea, sweating, nausea, heartburn, change in appetite, weight gain and an unpleasant taste in the mouth.
Doxepin HCL may occasionally used to treat other medical conditions, as determined by your doctor.
