Evista , known as raloxifene, is a selective estrogen receptor modulator that is used to reduce the risk of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Although, this drug isnt a synthetic hormone replacement, it acts like the female hormone estrogen in the body to enhance the density of bones.
Evista comes as an oral tablet to take once per day, at the same time, with or without food. Do not double your doses if you miss one dose, just take your next pill as soon as you remember to take it.
The most common side effects of Evista include chest pain, fever, cough, runny nose, throat dryness, loss of voice, painful urination, body aches, skin rash, infection, swelling of hands, feet or ankles and vaginal itchiness.
Evista may also be used to treat other conditions, as prescribed by your doctor.
