Femara , also called letrozole, is an aromatase inhibitor used in the treatment of certain types of breast cancer in women who are postmenopausal. It works by inhibiting the production of female hormones known to contribute to the development of some breast cancers in the body.
Femara comes as an oral tablet taken once a day, as suggested by your doctor.
Side effects of Femara are not common, but some patients have experienced headache, dizziness, weakness, cough, hot flashes, muscle pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, and swelling of the hands, feet or lower legs.
Femara may also be used in the treatment of other conditions, as prescribed by your doctor.
