Fioricet

Fioricet , a combination of butalbital, acetaminophen and caffeine, is an analgesic blended with a barbiturate and a stimulant for treating tension headaches. It works by relaxing the central nervous system to release the pain of a tension headache.

This medicine comes as an oral tablet and a capsule which should be taken when the first symptoms of a headache appear.

As Fioricet may be habit-forming, you should not take it too often or for a long period of time. Your headache may not disappear completely after taking Fioricet . However, it will reduce the frequency of your headaches and make them easier to relieve.

I used to take Fiorcet many years ago for tension and migraine headaches. It worked wonderful. I would take one about an hour before I went to bed and woke up the next morning well rested andpain free. I stopped taking it after the headaches went away for a long period of time. Now they are back and my doctor will not prescribe anything that works for me. I was given tramadol which is like taking an M&M. How can I convince the doctor to re-prescribe the fiorcet again?

I have been using this med. for years for head neck &back pain. Unlike other pain meds I have not had to increase the dose & have very few to no side effects. It seems to work farly well just as well as darvacet & lortab which doses had to be upped to keep working. Its one of the best pain med I have tried so far.
