Gemfibrozil

Gemfibrozil is a lipid-regulating agent used to reduce the amount of cholesterol and triglyceride levels in your blood. It helps to prevent heart failure, strokes, angina (chest pain) and heart attacks by allowing oxygen to flow to your heart easily.

Gemfibrozil comes as an oral capsule and an oral tablet to be taken twice daily, 30 minutes before breakfast and dinner. A low-fat diet is normally suggested when taking this medication.

Side effects of Gemfibrozil may occur, including headache, dizziness, flushing, blurred vision, gas, stomach pain, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and constipation.

Gemfibrozil may also be used to treat other conditions, as determined by your doctor.
