Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea anti-diabetic agent used to treat type 2 diabetes . It works by encouraging your pancreas to force more insulin into your blood stream, so that the sugar in your body can be turned into energy as quick as possible.
Glimepiride comes as an oral tablet to be taken in 1 to 2-milligram doses once every day, with the first meal in the morning, as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, do not take double doses.
This medicine has some side effects, including headache, nervousness, weakness, tiredness, blurred vision, drowsiness, cold sweats, nausea and weight gain.
Glimepiride may also be used to treat other conditions, as suggested by your doctor.
