Glucotrol , also known as glipizide, is an anti-diabetic agent used to treat type 2 diabetes or non-insulin dependent diabetes. It helps the body produce and respond to insulin efficiently, so that blood sugar levels can be lowered. As a result, it prevents heart failures, stroke, heart attacks and certain kidney diseases.
This medicine comes as a tablet to be taken by mouth once a day, half an hour before breakfast. Normally, Glucotrol is applied along with a diet program.
Side effects of taking Glucotrol are headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, changes of appetite, constipation and weight gain.
Glucotrol may sometimes be used to treat other conditions, as suggested by your doctor.
