Hydrochlorothiazide

Hydrochlorothiazide is a water pill used to treat high blood pressure and swelling caused by heart disease or other conditions. It works by forcing the kidney to produce more urine to get rid of the unneeded water and salt from your body.

This type of medicine comes as a capsule, a tablet and a liquid to take by mouth once or twice daily, in the morning and/or in the late afternoon.

Hydrochlorothiazide has some common side effects including light headache, dizziness, thirst, upset stomach, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle weakness, loss of appetite, hair loss, and changes in weight.

Hydrochlorothiazide may also be prescribed to treat other conditions, as suggested by your doctor.
