Hytrin , chemically known as terazosin, is an alpha-blocker used in the treatment of high blood pressure and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia ( BPH ). It works by relaxing the bladder and prostate muscles, as well as loosening up the blood vessels to allow the blood to flow smoothly.
This drug comes as an oral capsule taken once or twice a day, with or without food, at bedtime or during the day. Your dose may be increased gradually by your doctor if needed. It usually takes four to six weeks before you feel the benefits associated with taking Hytrin .
Hytrin has some common side effects. They are lightheadedness, dizziness, weakness, drowsiness, tiredness, upset stomach, stuffed nose, blurred vision, dry mouth, decreased sexual drive, and swelling of the hands, feet or lower legs.
Hytrin may also be used in other medical conditions, as suggested by your doctor.
