Isordil , medically known as isosorbide dinitrate, is a nitrate used to prevent and treat angina (chest pain). It relaxes the blood vessels, so the oxygen and blood flows through the body easily.
Isordil comes as a sublingual tablet to place under your tongue, between the gum and cheek, or between the gum and lip. The tablet will dissolve slowly without chewing. This medicine normally takes one to five minutes to relieve the pain.
Side effects of Isordil may occur including lightheadedness, dizziness, headache, upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, flushing of face and neck, irregular heartbeat, and burning or tingling in the mouth.
Isordil may also be used to treat other medical conditions, as suggested by your doctor.
