K-Dur is a type of potassium supplement which is used in the treatment and prevention of low potassium levels in the blood. Some diseases and drugs remove the potassium received from foods, out of our bodies. In this case, the patient will require a supplement in order to ensure they are receiving adequate amounts of potassium in their diet.
K-Dur comes in oral tablets, extended-release tablets, effervescent tablets, an oral liquid, powder or granules. It is generally taken two to four times per day, with or immediately following meals. Never take more or less than what has been prescribed by your doctor.
Some of the common side effects associated with K-Dur include upset stomach, diarrhea and vomiting. If you begin experiencing more severe side effects such as mental confusion, cold/pale skin, burning or tingling sensations or severe stomach pain, contact your doctor as soon as possible.
Occasionally, K-Dur will be prescribed for other purposes as well, as suggested by your doctor.
