Lumigan , also known as bimatoprost, is a synthetic prostaglandin used to treat glaucoma which has been unresponsive to other medicines. It is also used to treat ocular hypertension . This type of medication lowers the amount of pressure in the eye by increasing the flow of natural fluids out of the eye.
This type of medication is available in the form of an eye drop. These drops are applied to the affected eye, once a day, usually in the evening. Always follow the directions on your prescription label.
Common side effects Lumigan users may experience include itchy eyes, watery eyes, burning eyes, headache or general eye pain. If you experience more serious side effects such as sensitivity to light, pink eye or swelling of the eyelid, contact your doctor immediately for assistance.
Occasionally, doctors may prescribe Lumigan for other purposes.
