Maxzide-25 is a combination of triamterene and hydrochlorothiazide which is used to treat high blood pressure and swelling as a result of excess body water. This type of medication works by forcing the kidneys and bladder to produce more urine in order to dispose of unneeded water and salt from the body.
Maxzide-25 comes in the form of capsules or tablets which are taken orally, usually once a day with food. Never take more or less than what has been prescribed by your doctor and always follow the directions on your prescription label.
Common side effects often associated with Maxzide-25 include upset stomach, diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting and loss of appetite. If you begin experiencing more severe side effects such as muscle weakness, rash, sore throat or difficulty breathing, contact a medical professional for help immediately.
Occasionally, Maxzide-25 will be prescribed for other purposes, as determined by your doctor.
