Metoprolol Tartate

Metoprolol Tartate is a beta-blocker which is used in the treatment of high blood pressure and angina pectoris (chest pain). This type of medicine controls high blood pressure which can ultimately prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems.

Metoprolol Tartate is taken in the form of regular tablets and extended-release tablets. The extended release tablet usually only needs to be taken once a day; the regular tablets usually need to be taken twice. Taking more or less than what has been prescribed by your doctor can potentially result in serious harm.

Some of the common side effects associated with Metoprolol Tartate which do not require medical attention include lightheadedness, depression, tiredness, dry mouth and stomach pain. If the side effects persist or appear to be getting progressively worse, contact your doctor for immediate assistance.

Occasionally, Metoprolol Tartate will be prescribed to improve survival in patients who have suffered from a heart attack. It may be prescribed for other purposes as well, as determined by your doctor.

I have ED because of this Beta Blocker I'm told. Is there a sub which will reverse this problem? If so what is it and can I wean myself off of Metoprolol?

If your extra heart beats are PVCs it can be serious. Go see an electrocardiophysiologist. PVCs and tachychardia, can lead to death by fibrillation and sudden cardiac arrest and instant death. Do you have panic attacks during the irregular heartbeats? If so get an immediate echocardiogram to rule out aortic anyurisms. Those will kill you in seconds. Do you also have bradycardia, or unusual t-waves on the 12 lead EKG? Study this and have it checked out. CAHZ

Regarding the comment I just submitted, my questions are - Could I have arithmia? Have an extra heart beat, is this serious and does the metroprolol correct the problem? Thank you for your time.

Would Metroprolol tartate be prescribed for arithmia (sp?)? Also, I'm on Metroprolol as my heart races at times throughout the day and it feels like it is skipping a beat but I've been told it has an extra beat. Thank you.
