Mevacor , also medically known as lovastatin, is used in combination with diet changes in order to decrease the amount of fatty substances and cholesterol in the blood.
This type of medication works by slowing the production of cholesterol in the body. It helps increase blood and oxygen flow through the body which will protect against heart disease, angina, strokes and heart attacks.
Mevacor is taken orally in the form of regular tablets and extended-release tablets. These are usually taken once or twice a day, depending on the prescription given by your doctor.
