Prozac

Prozac , also known as fluoxetine, is used to treat mental depression, panic disorder , obsessive compulsive disorder and bulimia .

Prozac is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). This type of medicine works by increasing the activity of serotonin in the patients brain.

Taken orally in the form of tablets or capsules, Prozac dosages vary from patient to patient according to the severity of each case. Never take more or less of a drug than what has been prescribed by your doctor and do not drink alcohol while taking Prozac in order to prevent liver damage.

Common side effects users may experience when taking this type of medication include anxiety, nervousness, nausea, drowsiness, headache, weakness and difficulty sleeping. If your side effects do not go away or appear to be getting progressively worse, contact your doctor for assistance.

Occasionally, Prozac will be prescribed for other purposes, as directed by your doctor.

Isn't Prozac sometimes prescribed for children? I find it is so expensive though, I usually have to go overseas to get a reasonable price from places like New Zealand (Express Medicine).

I was prescribed Prozac some time ago. I had to be hospitalized for I tried to harm myself while in a stupor. I have been through much expense to get this out of my system. I take nothing now other than some Tylenol for arthritis. I took Prozac for I was in so much pain I could not sleep and needed something to calm me.

Prozac saved my life. I have heard so many negative comments about Prozac, but I wouldn't be here today if my doctor had not prescribed this medication for me. The only side effect I have ever experienced is a little drowsiness.

Prozac can make a person more mean then they already are. I was on Prozac before and it made me do things I didn't know I was doing. This is how I know.
