Retin-A is derived from vitamin A and is used to treat severe cases of acne. Available in cream, gel, or topical liquid form, Retin-A is used on a daily basis before you go to bed.
In the first 7-10 days of use, skin will become worse (increased redness and more acne), but with continuous use (about 2 weeks) the acne will begin to disappear.
Common side effects associated with Retin-A include slight burning or stinging sensation when applied, abnormal colored skin (light or dark) and swelling or blistering of the skin. If you experience these side effects, contact your doctor if they do not ease up within a few days.
Retin-A may also be used for other purposes, as suggested by your doctor.
