Timoptic , also known as timolol , is used to treat open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension . Glaucoma is a condition which causes increased pressure on the eye and can ultimately lead to a gradual loss of vision.
Timoptic is effective in decreasing the pressure on the eye. Used in the form of an eye drop or a gel, Timoptic is applied once or twice a day at evenly spaced times until the pressure in the eye has eased. This usually takes about four weeks.
Common side effects associated with Timoptic include eye irritation, double vision, depression, headache, upset stomach and dizziness. If you are experiencing more severe side effects, contact your doctor for medical assistance.
Timoptic may also be used for other purposes, as suggested by your doctor.
