Toprol XL

Toprol XL is a beta blocker used in the treatment of high blood pressure. It is also used to prevent angina (chest pain) and to treat heart attacks.

This drug works by slowing the heart rate and relaxing the blood vessels so the heart does not have to work as hard to pump the blood.

Toprol XL is taken orally as a tablet or an extended-release tablet, exactly as directed by your doctor or other healthcare professional.

Common side effects associated with this type of medication include dizziness, lightheadedness, depression, fatigue, upset stomach, abdominal pain heartburn and constipation. If your side effects seem to be more severe than the ones listed above, contact your doctor as soon as possible.

Toprol XL may occasionally be prescribed for other purposes, as determined by your doctor.

Toprolol xl has limited my physical activity. I'm trying to get off of it right now, but I'm having a little chest uncomfort. I have been on it for 5 years and starting during pregnancy. It has definitely slowed my pulse and kept it at a good rate, but has also decreased my activity. It is good and bad in my opinion. Also, I have read that it can cause an increase in your bad cholesterol.
