I have been an insomniac since childhood, and used to be able to survive on four hours sleep twice a week. The other nights, I would stare at the ceiling, daydream, get up and go back to bed, etc. When I got to my fifties, I could not manage on such a small amount of sleep, and my doctor tried several sleep medications on me. I was most content with Halciun (Triazolam) because when I wake up, I am not groggy, and don't get a dry mouth from it, etc. Yes, I am addicted, but I can finally sleep at night. Although I sleep, the Sleep Studies I attended told me that I do not get REM sleep. I don't remember ever dreaming, but I don't know if I ever have. I will stay on Trazolam because I need to sleep!
