Voltaren-XR , also known as diclofenac, is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory used to relieve minor aches and pains associated with muscles, colds and arthritis . Voltaren-XR is also known to reduce fever.
This drug works by blocking the enzyme which produces prostaglandins. This ultimately helps to reduce pain, swelling and fever.
Voltaren-XR is taken orally in the form of delayed-release tablets or extended-release tablets, depending on what your doctor has prescribed.
Common side effects associated with this type of medication include nausea, diarrhea, gas, vomiting, constipation, indigestion, dizziness, drowsiness and headache. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can also potentially increase your risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke.
Occasionally Voltaren-XR is prescribed for other purposes, as directed by your doctor.
