Wytensin , also medically known as guanabenz, is an alpha agonist used to treat high blood pressure.
This type of medication works by decreasing the patients heart rate and relaxing the blood vessels in order for the blood to flow more easily throughout the body.
Wytensin is taken orally in the form of a tablet, usually twice per day, as prescribed by your doctor.
Common side effects associated with this type of medication include dry mouth, dizziness, weakness, drowsiness, headache, decreased sexual ability and upset stomach. Contact your doctor or other medical professional if the side effects appear to be getting progressively worse.
Occasionally, Wytensin may be prescribed for other purposes, as directed by your doctor.
