Xenical, also medically known as orlistat, is used in combination with a low calorie diet in order to help patients older than 12 years old lose weight.
This type of medication works by inhibiting the absorption of fats you eat. The indigested fat is then removed in your bowel movements.
Xenical is taken orally in the form of capsules, usually three times per day depending on your prescription.
Common side effects Xenical users may experience include oily stools, gas with discharge, abnormally colored stools, stomach pain and irregular menstrual periods. If the side effects become progressively worse, contact your doctor or other medical professional for immediate assistance.
Xenical may also be prescribed by doctors to lower blood pressure, treat diabetes and control high cholesterol in obese patients.
