Zestril is an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor which is used to treat high blood pressure, also known as hypertension .
Zestril works by blocking an enzyme in the body which causes blood vessels to tighten. This relaxes the blood vessels which in turn lowers blood pressure and increases the supply of oxygen and blood to the heart.
This type of medication is taken orally in the form of tablets or capsules, but can also be taken through an injection into the body.
Common side effects associated with Zestril include coughing, headache, diarrhea, nausea and extreme fatigue. If the side effects seem to be getting progressively worse, contact a medical professional for assistance.
Zestril may occasionally be prescribed for other uses, as directed by your doctor.
