Abortion Options

Abortion is the willful premature ending of a pregnancy. The word usually is used to describe a voluntary case, while involuntary occurrences are called miscarriages. Abortion is a controversial subject and because of this, it can sometimes be difficult to find reliable abortion information. Abortion statistics paint a grim picture:

  • 78 percent of all abortions take place in developing countries.
  • 52 percent of all abortions are given to women who are below the age of 25.
  • Although more white women have abortions (60 percent of all cases), black women are three times more likely to receive an abortion in their lives.

Currently, there are various methods of abortion that are used. There is the traditional method of abortion is abortion surgery. There are also abortion pills that cause a woman to have an artificially produced miscarriage. Most often, surgical methods of abortion are used. There are quite a few different types of surgical techniques used for abortions, such as:

  • Suction aspiration
  • Dilation and curettage
  • Dilatation and evacuation
  • Saline injections
  • Prostaglandin chemical abortion
  • Partial birth abortion

Suction aspiration is the most common method of abortion used during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. It is performed with a vacuum machine that is inserted into the womb that sucks out the fetus and placenta. The dilation and curettage method is similar to the vacuum method, but adds a knife which is used to aid the process.

Abortion was illegal in the United States and most of the rest of the world up until the late ’60s and ’70s. The case which made the process legal in the U.S. was the famous Roe v. Wade trial. Before abortion was legal, it was still performed outside of the medical establishment to some extent. Few documents remain to inform the public about how many there actually were, as the process was usually only promoted by word of mouth and few records were kept.

Margaret Sanger was largely responsible for the legalization of abortion and was the founder of Planned Parenthood, the most popular abortion clinic. She was a militant eugenicist who remains a controversial figure even today. There exist many other abortion clinics as well as standard hospitals that perform the operation.

What about that little human in the woman's body...What rights do they have?!...they are a HUMAN! With a BEATING HEART! We have allowed women to go all the way to the end of their pregnancy and have the baby half pulled out and then the doctor sucks their brains out! Why don't we let those that choose to kill their baby after they have turned two years old? The parent just say that the baby was unwanted!! Tell me what is the difference, before or after the baby is born? Why do we hunt down the girl that puts their newborn at someone's doorstep or thrown in the garbage and treat her like a criminal. The abortionists throw the aborted babies in the garbage? There is NO UNWANTED BABY! There is always a couple that can't have children that would love to have that child in their live. In case of rape....that is one of the least reasons why women get abortions, it's mostly by young women that don't use birth control before they have sex..Abortion is their birth control. This is not a judgment these are facts, do the proper research. Make the responsible decision before you go to bed with someone. This is the 21century...there is birth control everywhere, for everyone! Be a responsible Proud Woman, responsible Strong Woman, responsible Free woman, with a rubber in her pocket!!!

What we women do with our bodies is up to us. It is not anyone's choice but our own. Make a resopnsible decsion after doing all the proper research. It is your choice, make it a good one.

Weather you are pro life or pro choice what it all boils down is the choice is yours, your as the individual. For those of you who would like to end abortion, what I say to that is, it is your choice. I myself do not believe in abortion but that is my choice. Our choice to do with and how we do with our bodies is what makes this country strong. For you church goers what you are asking is for the government to control what we do with our bodies, well the government is trying to tell you what and how you are to represent yourselves in your church. Pro choice or pro life the point is never allow anyone government agency to have the control to say how you as a woman is to choose how to live your body in life. Women pride, women strong, women free, let us keep it that way.

I have posted many comments none of which I could finish. I am 13 and Pro-Life. I am writing an essay on Abortion and why I'm against it- Why would someone ask someone else to commit murder on the unborn. A doctor will kill a thousand unborn children if it means he gets paid for it. People who kill their unborn get miscarriages and I say . . . good! Wake up and smell the flowers girls! That was your mistake to have sex and you need to deal with the consequences! Don't abort your baby boy or girl just because someone recommended it! You will find that people are going to push you around in life. Its never too early to think about pushing back! Your baby needs you. If you don't want it, put it up for adoption! Don't send it to be dissolved in acid! -Hybrid Chick-

Margaret Sanger is my hero. She did more to help free women from the tyranny of poverty, disease and early death than all of the Medicaid programs ever devised.

There is no 'knife' used EVER. A currette is long slender instrument that in no way resembles a knife.

I am pro choice. However, sex is not always by choice. There is rape and there is being nagged into it because you don't feel you have a say so.

your choice is to have sex or not. in America..... there is no good reason to kill a baby... western europe is not producing enough children to sustain itself.........china kills baby girls as well as India and plenty of people want them....

I am pro choice. Hope that people are smart enough to keep it that way. The world is not big enough for a child that is not wanted.
